PARTY: Meet the filmmakers participating in this year’s GI Film Festival and enjoy an open bar and free appetizers at the festival kick-off party at Policy. Sneak peeks of the selected films will also be screened, all of which are dedicated to showcasing the sacrifices and success stories of members of the armed forces. 5:30 to 7:30 PM; get tickets ($30) at the festival’s site.

COMEDY: The Looking Glass Lounge plays host to the arts-oriented talk show and podcast “You, Me, Them, Everybody.” This week’s guests include comedian Jimmy Meritt, singer/songwriter Meredith Bragg, and cartoonist Bill McKay. 8:30 PM; no cover.

MUSIC: The band Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams has been called “the hillbilly Pink Floyd.” Hear for yourself when the folk-rockers play at Jammin’ Java at 7:30. Buy tickets ($18) at the venue’s site.
