Sponsored by Solas Nua, Irish Popcorn is series of free screenings of Irish films. Tonight’s offering is Pavee Lackeen: The Traveller Girl, about a 10-year-old girl who’s a member of Ireland’s gypsy population. At the Renaissance Hotel in Dupont; 7 PM.

Another foreign film screening tonight is Shahada, a selection from the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival. It deals with the clash between modernity and tradition when dealing with issues of sexual orientation. At American University’s Butler Boardroom; 6 PM. Free; RSVP to matthew@aicongress.org.

MUSIC: Electro-pop band YACHT, who has been described as “digital ear candy,” is playing at the Black Cat. 8 PM; buy tickets ($15) at Ticket Alternative.
