Wedding Dress Designer of the Week: Marchesa

Every week, we’ll show you dresses from the newest collection of one of your favorite designers—and tell you where you can buy ’em.

If you just got engaged (or even if you’re waiting for the ring), you may have already started looking for the perfect wedding gown—and we’re here to help. Every week, we’ll feature one gown designer and show off his or her newest collection—it’s part research, part pure eye candy.

This week, we’re looking at Marchesa’s Fall 2012 wedding collection. Kate Hudson famously wore a Marchesa wedding gown on the red carpet a few years back, and model Molly Sims just wore the designer’s gown to her own wedding.

Marchesa’s new gowns have a modern-ethereal feel and are undeniably feminine. We’re loving the unique scrollwork details, the contemporary use of lace, and the fact that many of the gowns feature sleeves. We’re particularly obsessed with the white version of the sleek rose-sleeved red gown Lea Michele wore to the Emmys.

The ballgowns would fit in beautifully at a grand wedding at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, while we could picture the more boho-style gowns giving a Shakespearean-maiden vibe to a ceremony at one of the area’s historical homes like Dumbarton House.

Marchesa’s new collection will be available early next spring at Carine’s Bridal Atelier in DC.
