What They Wore to the Corcoran Ball (Photos)

The most well-heeled guests at the museum’s 57th annual bash.

An estimated 1,000 guests bought tickets to the annual Corcoran Ball this year, the art museum's 57th. We attended solely to check out the fashions on one of Washington's most dressed-up nights. Done up in black tie and ballgowns, the crowd of mostly married couples arrived to Champagne and music and ascended the grand staircase. That's where our photographer, Kevin Allen, was set up to snap pictures, while associate fashion editor Sarah Zlotnick and I picked our glamorous "victims." We chose them not because of who they were but what they wore--a sampling of Washington's sense of style.
