DC Council Member Carol Schwartz says she will run as a write-in candidate in November in a bid to keep her seat. She was defeated last week in the primary by Patrick Mara. 

Our local alt-weekly, the Washington City Paper, faces ever more cuts. Apparently, as Fishbowl DC reports, "cover stories will be phased out." Huh? How does an alt-weekly even exist without cover stories?
