Why go: Georgetown is better known for leather booths than for picnic tables, but the low-key vibe and gorgeous fry baskets at this New England–inspired fish shack have the makings of an insta-classic.
What to get: Fried bay scallops with grilled lemon; grilled calamari with basil-walnut pesto (a constant on the menu at Hook, the place’s upscale sibling); grilled bluefish; spicy fish tacos; fried clams with tartar sauce; fried shrimp with spicy marinara; blueberry pie.
Best for: A quick shopping break; a laid-back lunch or late dinner.
Insider tip: The Maine Meal—a fish, sauce, and two sides for $13—is the way to go. Choosing between the wood-grilled fish and the fry baskets can be tough, but if you’re getting a meal to go, stick with the grill (the smoke-infused bluefish and trout travel well). The lobster roll—at $19, the most expensive item on the menu—was a recent disappointment, under-filled and served on a dry sub roll.
