Bests of 2005: Tea for Two Two-for-One

Enjoy your tour with your tea

Enjoy a tour with your tea–or tea with your tour–at the Washington National Cathedral (Massachusetts and Wisconsin aves., NW). The 75-minute programs range from cathedral highlights to specialty tours such as "Patriots at the Cathedral" and "Women in Glass and Stone."

The tour is followed by tea in the Pilgrim Observatory Gallery, on the seventh floor between the north and south towers. The simple, wood-paneled room with an arched stone cloister around the perimeter is set with linens, flowers, and china; volunteers serve scones, sandwiches, and sweets. Guests look down onto the lovely Bishop's Garden and beyond to a wide-angle view of Washington.

Reservations needed; $22 per person. For more information, call 202-537-8993 or visit www.cathedral.org/cathedral; click on Visit and then Touring.
