Some health clubs charge up to $250 a month. Now comes Planet Fitness, a chain with out-of-this-world dues—$10 a month—at its new Falls Church location (6763-R Wilson Blvd.; 703-241-2255; planetfitness.com), currently the only one in the area. The initiation fee is just $49, there’s an annual fee of $10, you don’t have to sign a contract, and the rate is guaranteed for three years.
The gym may not have a juice bar, childcare, or fancy amenities, but it’s got long rows of cardiovascular equipment—much of it new—a large weight room, and a staff whose motto is to provide a “judgment-free zone.”
