Best Board Surfing Spots

For beginners: Ocean City has designated spots at 8th Street, 36th Street, and 47th Street before 10 am and after 5:30 pm. Early morning is best at Assateague Island, which offers long stretches of beach with soft waves and no crowds. In Delaware, the north side of the Indian River Inlet is designated for surfers.

More advanced surfers head for the Ocean City Inland Jetty or Bethany Beach, where there are hard-breaking waves. Surfers at Bethany must clear the beach after 10 am, when lifeguards come on duty.
