Musicians Sam McCormally of Ugly Purple Sweater, Brett Vaughn of the Ums, and Caitlin Schneiderman play a free show at Solly’s U Street Tavern. Doors are at 8 and the show starts at 8:30.

Tuesday, April 21
Huffington Post blogger and best-selling author Michelle Goldberg brings The Means Of Reproduction: Sex, Power and the Future of the World to Politics & Prose at 7. In her new book, Goldberg’s investigative journalism sheds light on the battle for women’s reproductive rights on four different continents and what it means for the future of global development.  

Wednesday, April 22
Learn about the everyday activities that affect the environment and what simple steps you can take to become more environmentally responsible at the Anacostia Community Museum’s Reducing Your Carbon Footprint event. Speakers include representatives from the Sierra Club, the Ward 8 Environmental Council, and the Environmental Protection Agency. The program starts at 7. Call 202-633-4844 for reservations.

Thursday, April 23
The Hirshhorn screens The Universe of Keith Haring at 8 in its Ring Auditorium. Christina Clausen’s documentary reviews the short life of Keith Haring, a renowned street artist, social activist, and close friend to Andy Warhol.

Friday, April 24
The Geringas Baryton Trio—comprised of cellists David Geringas and Jens-Peter Maintz and violist Hartmut Rohde—play a Haydn program focusing on the composer’s Italian influences at the Library of Congress’s Coolidge Auditorium. The concert starts at 8.

Saturday, April 25
The National Gallery of Art screens For Robert, a tribute to photographer and filmmaker Robert Frank, in its East Building auditorium at 3:30. The film is a selection of poetic avant-garde works chosen by curator Michael H. Shamberg and includes: Junkopia (Chris Marker, 6 minutes); NYC Weights and Measures (Jem Cohen, 6 minutes); p.s. beirut (Michael H. Shamberg, 7 minutes); Notes on Iceland (Melody Owen, 5 minutes); After Writing (Mary Helena Clark, 4 minutes); Monsanto (Paula Gaitán, 22 minutes); Nocturne (Joel Schlemowitz, 3 minutes); Ah Liberty! (Ben Rivers, 19 minutes); Summer Cannibals (Robert Frank, 4 minutes); Run (Robert Frank, 4 minutes); and Playback (Pere Portabella, 8 minutes).

Sunday, April 26
The Korean Film Festival continues this week with Milky Way Liberation Front at 1 in the Freer Gallery’s Meyer Auditorium. The witty black comedy directed by Yoon Seung-ho follows the personal and professional shortcomings of a neurotic filmmaker who suffers from aphasia, endures a break-up, and risks losing his directing job.
