Monday, July 27: Taylor Cinema
The National Theatre pays tribute to screen siren Elizabeth Taylor with a retrospective of some of her most important films. This week, watch Taylor play a glamorous socialite in love with Montgomery Clift in A Place in the Sun, also starring Shelley Winters. The screening is free; tickets are distributed 30 minutes before the show. 6:30 PM.
Tuesday, July 28: Pisco Party
The Peruvian Embassy celebrates the country's 188 years of independence with a pisco sour party at Poste. The tasty drinks will be $5 all night. There is a $5 price of admission, benefiting Coprodeli, a Peruvian charity. 6-10 PM.
Wednesday, July 29: Jazz it Up!
Cafe Saint-Ex hosts a, pardon the pun, jazzed-up dance party featuring DJs Birdman and DC Digga, as well as special guests DJ Fatback and Larry Grogan of Funky 16 Corners music blog. Drink specials will be served throughout the night. 7 PM.
Thursday, July 30: Time of Your Life
The Capitol Riverfront's outdoor movie series is winding down, with just two more films to screen continues through August 20. Tonight, Dirty Dancing, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, shows at dusk (around 8:45). Attendees are encouraged to wear legwarmers and quote their favorite lines to each other. Films are shown at Tingey Plaza.
