Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

A free film, Beer Week, a county fair, and more in this week's nightlife.

Monday: DC Beer Week
If you don’t like beer, you may want to get out of town this week. DC Beer Week 2009, the inaugural celebration of all things suds in the Nation’s capitol, is going on. With so many events and so much beer, navigating the week could be just as hard as getting home each night.  Here's a handy list of Beer Week options.

Tuesday: Two Tears
There'll be no crying when you go to see Two Tears at the Black Cat. The group plays fun and bluesy garage rock, and as a bonus, the Ettes and the Hall Monitors open. Those two groups play punky, growly guitar rock, and you'll be dancing in no time. 8:30 PM, $10.

Wednesday: Fun at the Fair
What better place to spend some summer days than at the fair grounds? The 33rd Annual Arlington County Fair runs from today to Sunday of this week.  There’s no cost to the enter the grounds, and additional free activities include the petting zoo, movie nights, and the Indoor Exhibitor Hall, where you’ll be able to explore entries from photography, baked goods, agricultural competitions and more.

Thursday: Slumdog at Strathmore
Slumdog Millionaire takes the screen at the Strathmore as part of Comcast’s ongoing Outdoor Film festival.  The show begins at 8:10 PM, with grounds and food vendors opening as early as 6:30.  If you have yet to experience the unique story line and unbelievable Indian scenery of last winter’s surprise blockbuster, we highly recommend attending.
