Monday, November 30

Tonight is your last chance to savor chef Daniel Giusti’s special three-course menu ($40 per person) at 1789. Each course features roasted chestnuts from Toigo Orchards in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Reservations can be made by calling 202-965-1789.

Tuesday, December 1

For the second year, Johnnie Walker is opening a Blue Label Engraving Studio in Union Station, where gift givers can create free engraved messages on the front of their Blue Label bottles with each purchase ($225). It debuts today and will be open through the Christmas season.

Wednesday, December 2

Join Michael Franz, editor of as he guides your palate through an “ABC’s of Wine” class. Sponsored by the Washington Wine Academy, the class will teach the basics about wine production. Each tasting presentation includes a detailed explanation of which foods should be paired with the wines. Thursday, December 3

Heather Greene, one of the world’s only female Scotch-whiskey ambassadors, leads a tasting of five vintage malts at BLT Steak. Each offering will be paired with hors d’oeuvres. The tasting, $75 per person, runs from 6 to 8. For reservations, contact Erica Frank at 202-689-8999.

Friday, December 4

You may still be sated from Thanksgiving dinner, but it’s never too early to prepare a New Year’s feast. Sign up for the “Champagne Cooking for New Year’s” class at L’Academie de Cuisine (5021 Wilson La., Bethesda), led by instructor Paul Schneider. The demonstration class takes students through a bubbly-oriented menu of shiitake-and-leek/Champagne-cream soup and seared greens with Champagne sauce, among other offerings. Saturday, December 5

Spend your Saturday raising your elbow and lifting your pinky at Ceiba’s port, sherry, and Madeira tasting from 1 to 3. For $75, spirits enthusiasts can sample ten selections from recent releases and rare vintages and learn each variety’s history and production from the restaurant’s wine-and-beverage director, Scott Clime. Sunday, December 6

Looking to mix up your weekend market routine? Head to Adams Morgan (or just camp out a few hours past last call) for the Mi Tierra Latino Market at Unity Park (Euclid and Champlain sts., NW). The outdoor emporium, which runs from 9 to 7, features 18 vendors selling foods and crafts from Latin America.
