Table to Table: The Week in Food Events

A date night cooking class, a pasta-making lesson, and a tasty Christmas menu, plus more in our weekly foodie roundup.

Tuesday, December 22

Set last-minute holiday mayhem aside for an evening and spend some time with your loved one at Open Kitchen’s (7115 Leesburg Pike, #107, Falls Church; 703-334-1504) Date Night cooking class. (It’s a great idea for a new date, too.) The three-hour class, $75 per person, begins at 7. On the menu: teriyaki flank steak and tomato and mozzarella with asparagus. Sign up here.

Wednesday, December 23

Today is your last chance to taste chef Black Schumpert’s three-course Christmas dinner, which has been running for nearly a week at Redwood. The menu begins with chestnut soup with truffles and Parmesan crema; then comes rack of lamb from Pennsylvania’s Jamison Farm and an Anjou-pear clafoutis. The dinner is $48 per person; call 301-656-5515 for reservations.

Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25

Saturday, December 26

Extend the holiday one more day with a special tea in the lobby lounge of the Fairmont Hotel (2401 M St., NW; 202-457-5020). Offered Saturdays and Sundays throughout December, the two-hour tea features delicate sandwiches, miniature pastries, cranberry scones, and a selection of teas. It’s $35 for adults, $25 for children ages 12 and younger, and begins at 3.

Sunday, December 27

Forget dried macaroni or those expensive refrigerated ravioli: Learn to make your own pasta at Cookology (Dulles Town Center, 21100 Dulles Town Cir., Sterling). You’ll learn to make three pastas and three sauces: linguine with pesto; butternut-squash/ricotta ravioli with squash butter; and fennel-and-sausage spaghetti with dried-tomato rouille.  The two-hour class, $55 per person, begins at 5.
