Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do for fun this week in Washington.

Monday: Rock ’n’ Pong
Thank the Rock & Roll Hotel for combining two of life’s greatest pleasures: Ping-Pong and PBRs. Now in its second week, Ping-Pong nights run from 6 to 10 on Monday. For the remainder of the month, games are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis, with the promise of an organized tournament in the works for February.

Tuesday: 11th Dimension
The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas is giving the solo career a shot with his first album, Phrazes for the Young, which trades the band’s guitar riffs for synthesizers. His oblique lyrics, however, remain the same. He performs at the 9:30 Club. Tickets ($20) can be purchased here. Doors open at 7.

Wednesday: Pearls Before Swine
The Scandinavian ensemble the Pearls Before Swine performs five-minute works of jazz, classical, and rock music at the House of Sweden. A cash bar will be available at the concert, which starts at 7. You must RSVP to attend. E-mail rsvp-hos@foreign.ministry.se.

Thursday: Preppy Fun
Show up decked in plaid at H Street Country Club and you’ll get to play mini-golf for a discounted price (just $4) as part of the restaurant’s Preppy & Plaid night. Get there early enough and you’ll also be able to take advantage of the happy-hour specials (5 to 7), which include a $5 Pimm’s Cup.
