Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Twitter, Sherlock Holmes, and local indie-rock on the docket

Are you a social-media maven? Head to Science Club for a Social Media Day happy hour, hosted by Sisarina and Lisa Byrne, a.k.a. @DCeventjunkie on Twitter. Enjoy drink specials—including an original cocktail aptly named the SoTini—until 2 AM. More than 200 Twitter handles—and the people behind them—have already registered, so be on the lookout for your favorite Washington tweeter. RSVP here. Free. 5:30.

Elementary, Holmes! Catch a screening of Sherlock Holmes in Rockville Town Square Plaza at the Movies on the Square film series. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and eat dinner at restaurants in the square (check out the full list here; several offer delivery services during the movie). Free. 8:45.

Local indie-rock scenesters US Royalty share the stage with Dinosaur Bones and Harry Hotter tonight at the U Street Music Hall. US Royalty’s recent appearances in Spin magazine’s Buzzcatcher section and Nylon’s Radar have made them darlings of the Washington music scene. We’re crossing our fingers for a sampling of some new material tonight. Buy tickets ($10) here; 9 PM.
