Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Food bloggers, the Cold War 2.0, and Mamma Mia! appeal to a wide range of interests

Ask your favorite food blogger for that cupcake recipe you’ve been drooling over, or find out which local market sells the best squash blossoms at the DC food bloggers’ happy hour at the Passenger. The monthly gathering has a new addition for July: Food trucks will be parked outside serving frozen yogurt and salad (SweetflowMobile) and global cuisine inspired by everywhere from India to Vietnam (Sâuçá). Free. RSVP here at the DC Food Bloggers Facebook fan page. 6 to 8.

Is this a new Cold War? Expand your understanding of Iran’s nuclear threat at the International Spy Museum, which is hosting a panel of authors and intelligence experts. Speakers include Melissa Boyle Mahle, formerly the CIA’s top-ranking female Arabist, and Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi, an Iranian writer, commentator, and human-rights activist. Admission is $12.50, or $10 for Spy Ring members. Click here for tickets. 6:30.

Relax, Pierce Brosnan won’t be there singing poorly: Mamma Mia! heads to Wolf Trap tonight for a five-night engagement. The Abba-inspired musical was nominated for five Tony Awards in 2002 and inspired a film adaptation starring Meryl Streep in 2008. Tickets ($20 to $70) are available here.
