Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Bike films, Christmas in July, and drinks for a cause—all tonight.

The Bicycle Film Festival, which kicked off yesterday with a bash celebrating the festival’s tenth year in Washington, begins screening films tonight at 7 at the Gala Theatre. Two programs, at 7 and 9 PM, feature bike-related shorts. An after party follows; the location will be announced tonight. Tickets ($9.99 each) are available here.

There’s no need to wait until December—celebrate Christmas in July! Alexandria’s Union Street is hosting the 1st Annual Christmas in July Celebration. Fifteen retailers will be on hand with a variety of holiday activities, including food and wine tastings, children’s storybook time, arts and crafts, and musical performances. There will also be a raffle and shopping and dining deals. The event kicks off today and goes through the weekend. Go here for more details.

Grab a drink tonight to benefit a good cause. Town Tavern’s happy hour will benefit the Polaris Project, a nonprofit working to end human trafficking. The $5 cover charge will go directly to the program, and specials include $2 domestic bottles and mixed drinks from 6 to 9 and $3 domestic bottles and rail drinks from 9 to 11.
