Monday, July 12

The Washington beer institution the Brickskeller launches a series of beer classes this week. Manager Rachel Murray covers the basics tonight with a history of beer, ingredients, the role of yeast, and more. The class, which runs from 7 to 9, is $35 and includes 12 three-ounce samples. Tuesday, July 13

Wisdom is hosting a tasting of Leopold Bros. liqueurs, including Michigan Tart Cherry, Rocky Mountain Blackberry, and New York Sour Apple. Pick your favorite, and the bar’s mixologists will use it to shake up personalized cocktails. The event, which starts at 7:30, is $30. Happy Bastille Day! Here’s where to celebrate the French holiday.

Thursday, July 15

The French have been hogging all the attention with Bastille Day, but the Belgians also celebrate this month—their independence day falls on July 21. The chefs at Belga Café, Brasserie Beck, and Et Voilà! get a head start on the celebration with a cocktail reception and four-course beer dinner at the Belgian ambassador’s residence. Friday, July 16

Premiering tonight on TLC is the latest in a spate of Washington-based reality shows, D.C. Cupcakes. The six-episode program follows the adventures of sisters Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, the owners of Georgetown Cupcake. Tonight’s show airs at 10.

Saturday, July 17

Chef Victor Albisu hosts a demonstration of South American cooking at BLT Steak. The event includes a four-course meal, sangría, and a hands-on workshop. Sunday, July 18

Northside Social, a coffeehouse/lunch counter/dinner joint in Clarendon, hosts an hourlong yoga session with a food-and-wine tasting. The yoga class, which starts at 8 PM, is open to all levels. $40. For more information or to make a reservation, call 703-465-0145.
