Where & When: What to Do Tonight

A fair, a free concert, and “Fernando”

Have a fiesta this Friday night with the Nortec Panoptica Orchestra . Part of the Kennedy Center’s Celebrate Mexico 2010, this free Millennium  performance features a combination of traditional northern Mexican music with electronic dance beats. 6 PM.

Feeling nostalgic or just want a last chance at an outdoor concert? Visit Wolf Trap  for a performance by the Abba cover band Waterloo. This well-known act (as far as cover bands go, at least), will perform hits such as “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia!” 8 PM. Tickets ($25 to $38) are available here.

Kick off the weekend at the first night of the Frederick County Fair (797 E. Patrick St., Frederick; 301-695-3928). Check out livestock you’ll never purchase, eat funnel cake you might regret later, and win stuffed animals as proof of your marksmanship or strength—or just check out the musical lineup. Tickets are $18 for a three-day pass.
