If you’ve somehow missed it on TV this holiday season, the classic film It’s A Wonderful Life is being screened at the Smithsonian American Art Museum at 6:30. Free.

Get ready for New Year’s Eve and pick out the Champagne you’ll celebrate with at the Butcher’s Block Champagne tasting. Many of the varieties are from smaller estates, and appetizers are included. 7 PM. $50; to make a reservation call 703-894-5253.

Vince Scheuerman, formerly of the local band Army of Me, is playing for the first time tonight with his new group, River James. The indie-rock band aims to please old fans and win new ones. At the Black Cat; 9 PM. Buy tickets ($10) here.
