A new creative space opens, as does an exhibit

Sneak a peek of Blank Space SE (1922 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., SE), a project from the ARCH Development Corporation, a nonprofit aimed at the creative revitalization of Anacostia. The space can be used for a variety of exhibits, performances, and as studio space. The open house features a photo exhibit from Critical Exposure and a performance at 5 from Urban Artistry. 11 to 7; free.

British singer Julie Dexter is performing at Blues Alley. Her sound is influenced by bossa nova, jazz, and R&B. Shows begin at 8 and 10. Buy tickets ($20) at InstantSeats.

Opening tonight at Studio Gallery is “The Magic of the Melting Pot: Immigration in America,” which celebrates diversity in art. Fourteen artists from around the globe are showcasing their work. Free.
