Standup comedian Judah Friedlander, best known for his role as Frank on 30 Rock, is bringing his self-professed “World Champion” comedy routine to DC Improv through April 3. Buy tickets ($17) at Synfonee.

Bass player and punk rocker Mike Watt has played with a number of acts over his long career. The musician and his current band, the Missingmen, are playing the Black Cat with Suns of Guns. 8:30; get tickets ($13) at Ticket Alternative.

See the cherry blossoms from a more intimate viewpoint. Tudor Place Historic House & Garden is hosting Blossoms & Bubbly, which includes a tour of the Japanese-fan exhibit and cherry mimosas. 6 to 8; $10 at the door.

Friday, April 1
Can journalists be funny? Judge for yourself at the National Press Club’s Commedia dell Media, which brings together 12 local journalists from a variety of news organizations. The event benefits the CJP Journalist Assistance Fund, the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Lobby, and Reporters Without Borders. 7 PM; buy tickets ($15 to $35) at the club’s Web site.

Worn Magazine’s
Issue 3 release party at the Art Museum of the Americas includes an open bar and a performance by the Honeyguns, a local group. The magazine is stocked with plenty of fashion photography and interviews, all from local personalities and businesses. 8 to midnight; buy tickets ($25) at EventBrite.

Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar
is hosting Moneytown, a dance party featuring soul and funk music by DJ Nitecrawler. 10 PM; no cover.

Saturday, April 2
Ira Glass, host and producer of public radio’s This American Life, makes a stop at Lisner Auditorium. He’ll discuss the show’s brief foray into television, where it ran for two seasons on Showtime and won three Emmys. Call the box office at 202-994-6851 for tickets ($40 to $50); 8 PM.

Pick up spring essentials for yourself, your significant other, and your home at the Trina Turk trunk show at Donovan House. The designer is known for classic sportswear that’s at home in the Hamptons and Palm Beach. She’ll be in attendance from noon to 2 to answer your style questions.

You never know what you might find when combing through the 40-plus yard sales that make up the Columbia Heights Community-Wide Yard Sale & Spring Clean this weekend. It’s sponsored by the Columbia Heights Day Initiative, and all unsold items will be donated to the organization Community of Hope. Click here for a Google map of sale locations.

Skip the hoards of tourists at the Tidal Basin and check out the National Cherry Blossom Family Fun Day at the Yards Park. Kids can make lanterns and take in trapeze performers and martial artists, while adults can sample sushi, sake, and Japanese beer. 11 to 4; free.

Pick up fine art, photography, jewelry, and more at the undergraduate Student Art Sale at the Corcoran School of Art & Design’s Georgetown campus. 10 to 4.

Closing out the third annual Jewish Film Festival is Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story. Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, the documentary discusses the role of the sport in Jewish assimilation and overcoming prejudice, while profiling numerous Jewish baseball legends. 5 PM at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington; buy tickets ($12) at Wiz Events.
