Sheep Haircuts
The sheep at the Reston Zoo get their annual haircuts Saturday at 11, noon, and 1. Admittedly, this is an unusual event, which is probably why it first caught my eye, but the chance for kids to help bottle-feed the baby lambs is what sold my five-year-old on this activity. Kids can also go on a pony ride or take a Zoofari wagon ride around the grounds. Check out hours and admission prices here.
Art & Go Seek on Capitol Hill
Adventurers out there can participate in the Art & Go Seek scavenger hunt on Capitol Hill Saturday from 8:30 to 1. Teams of two to six people will seek answers to questions about art, history, and places of interest on the Hill. The event is open to all ages. Entry fees are $40 per adult, $10 for kids ages 13 to 18, and those age 12 and under are free.
Celebrate Earth Day with the Smithsonian American Art Museum
In honor of Earth Day, bring the kids down to the Smithsonian American Art Museum to participate in art projects and enjoy music Saturday from 11:30 to 3. Kids can learn how to make creatures out of their trash and enjoy music by Billy B. The event takes place in the Kogod Courtyard. Free.
Planning Ahead: Madeline the Musical
After reading Madeline every night for months, we are the ideal candidates to purchase advance tickets to the musical version of Madeline and the Bad Hat at McLean Community Center Saturday, April 16, at 2. Tickets are $12, or $8 for McLean residents.
