Hook and Tackle Box Closed Indefinitely After Fire; Streetcars Delayed Until At Least Late 2013: Morning Links

Fire Damages Hook, Saloun in Georgetown: A fire broke out in the rear of Hook restaurant in Georgetown Wednesday, causing between at least $50,000 to $100,000 worth of damage, according to fire department estimates. Both Hook and Tackle Box will be closed indefinitely while repairs are made. Nearby Saloun also suffered smoke damage, though the fire did not spread beyond Hook. UPDATE: A spokeswoman for Hook and Tackle Box tells Washingtonian that the investigation into the fire is still ongoing, but they predict the actual damage totals "will be substantially higher" than the numbers the fire department initially offered. The spokeswoman declined to guess on a specific number, but said the $100,000 figure was likely much lower than reality.

DC Streetcar Project Delayed Until At Least Late 2013: You had to see this one coming: Despite years of promises that the first new streetcar would run in the District in 2012, that ain't gonna happen, WTOP's Adam Tuss reports. Construction hasn't even begun yet on the power substations and storage facilities the cars will need to run. Tuss also reports the H Street line will likely now open ahead of the planned Anacostia, which was originally supposed to be completed first. 

FBI Now Investigating Arlington National Cemetery: First Congress and the Government Accountability Office, and now the FBI is joining the investigation into the embarrassing case of how officials at Arlington National Cemetery managed to lose track of the remains of so many veterans. "Investigators are said to be seeking information about who knew about the cemetery’s burial problems and whether fraud or falsification of records was involved," the Post reports.
