Time to Sign Up for Fall Leagues

From bocce to basketball, leagues are a great way to keep moving, make friends, and get food and beer discounts

BASKETBALL
Most basketball leagues are already at full capacity for the fall, such as the Sports Club/LA and DC City Ball, but pickup games are always happening at local YMCAs. The YMCA also offers youth basketball leagues. Call your local YMCA for pricing and registration.


BOCCE

DC Bocce League, the biggest bocce league in the area just expanded its league to include divisions in Columbia Heights and Capitol Hill on Saturday afternoons. The U Street division gathers on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The fall season runs from mid-September to November. There is a minimum of six players needed for each team and it costs $50 per player. Members receive an official T-shirt as well as pre- and post-game food and beer specials.

CORNHOLE
United Social Sports offers indoor cornhole divisions in Capitol Hill, Continental, Reston, Olney, Bethesda, and downtown DC. More than four players are recommended for each team. Register for the six to seven-week season for $39 here.
Perks: Members will receive discounted food and drinks at the bar, and in some cases an end of the season tournament and party.

DODGEBALL
United Social Sports offers two dodgeball divisions in Rockville on Wednesdays and Adams Morgan on Thursdays. Teams must have at least eight players who must each pay $55. Register here.
Perks: Members can meet at the sponsored bar post-game and enjoy beer and drinking games like flip cup, smack the cup, or beer pong.

Indoor dodgeball is offered on Sundays and Tuesdays at YMCA in Dupont Circle. Teams must have at least 15 players. Returning Nakid players must pay $25 to register, and new players pay $40. Register here.
Perks: Members receive official T-shirts as well as food and drinks at the sponsor bar. Team captains play for free once their team hits 15 players.

FLAG FOOTBALL
Flag football games take place on the National Mall on Sundays at 12 PM. Teams must have at least 15 players. Returning Nakid players must pay $25 to register, and new players pay $40. Register here.

KICKBALL
The World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA) also has more than 30 leagues in DC, Maryland, and Virginia combined. Generally, a season includes eight regular games and a league championship tournament. If you’re team is really good, you might qualify to compete in the annual Founders Cup World Kickball Championship in Las Vegas. It’s recommended that teams have a minimum of 20 players with at least eight males and eight females. Register here.
Perks: Members receive a WAKA team kickball T-shirt and discounts at the official league bar.

Nakid Social Sports Club offers indoor kickball on Sundays or Thursdays at the YMCA in Dupont Circle. Teams must have at least 15 players. Returning Nakid players must pay $25 to register, and new players pay $40. Register here.
Perks: Members receive official T-shirts as well as food and drinks at the sponsor bar. Team captains play for free once their team hits 20 players.

SKEEBALL
United Social Sports offers skeeball divisions in Chinatown, Reston, Rosslyn, Bethesda, Dupont, Falls Church, and on H Street for a six- to seven-week fall season. Teams must have a minimum of eight players, although ten to 12 are recommended. Registration is $39 per person. Register here.

SHUFFLEBOARD
Iron Horse Tap Room hosts the shuffleboard league for six weeks from 6 to 9 PM every Wednesday until Thanksgiving. Four players are required per team and it’s $39 per member. Register here.

VOLLEYBALL
