DANCE: The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to the Kennedy Center with its popular annual showcase. Tonight’s program features “Arden Court,” “Home,” “Takademe,” and “Revelations,” one of the company’s signature pieces. Tickets ($30 to $99) can be purchased through the KenCen’s website. 7 PM. The show runs through February 12.
Wednesday, February 8
FILM: The National Gallery hosts a free screening of Le Mystère Picasso, the classic 1956 film by Clouzot. French with English subtitles. 2:30 PM. The screening complements the gallery’s new exhibition, “Picasso’s Drawings, 1890–1921: Reinventing Tradition.” The collection, which features some 55 works, explores Picasso’s artistic development over a 30-year period. The exhibition runs through May 6.
Thursday, February 9
MUSIC: Pianist and vocalist Tony DeSare joins the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra SuperPops for “A BSO Valentine.” The romantic concert includes songbook standards such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Night and Day,” “Moon River,” “One for My Baby,” “That Old Black Magic,” and more.
