You know what they say: when the door of one fast-casual vegan restaurant closes, another one opens. Native Foods Cafe just left the DC market, and the Philadelphia-based HipCityVeg is ready to move in. The plant-based, quick-service eatery will open in Chinatown at 712 Seventh Street, Northwest this spring. This will be their first location outside Pennsylvania in what they hope will become a national expansion.

The menu in DC will be the same as in Philly, centering around meatless preparations of popular fast-food items like burgers and fries, wraps, sandwiches, and fried “chicken” nuggets. The restaurant advertises that it’s also sustainably-minded in its packaging, and will employ bicycle-only delivery services.
