Fans of the Washington Wizards finally got to see the team come together last season, making it all the way to the Eastern Conference semifinals with the help of stellar play from the likes of power forward Trevor Booker, 26. The South Carolina native was a star at Clemson, and was picked in the first round of the NBA draft in 2010. Standing a solid six-foot-eight, Booker (currently a free agent) has a shy confidence about him, a sweet Southern charm mixed with the swagger of a seriously talented professional athlete. He’s also a hands-on dad to three kids, Kairah, nine, Trevor Jr., four, and baby Jaxson, nine months, with his girlfriend, April Dixon. What can we say? He’s a baller.

His Best Quality

April: “I would have to say it’s his patience with the kids. No matter what may be going on with basketball, he always takes the time to listen to the children.”

His Secret to Laughter

Kairah: “He makes funny jokes.”

Trevor: “Because he tickles me!”

His Daddy Skills

April: “I had no doubt he was going to be a good father, because he’s a big kid at heart. He loves playing with our kids, and he’s always making them laugh. He has also always been a well-rounded, humble individual—those are qualities that I want my kids to gain from him as they get older.”

His Daddy Time

April: “He loves to take the kids out to do their favorite things—going to the park, or to Chuck E. Cheese, or the movies—just with him. I think it’s special because even with his busy schedule he loves to be with the kids.”

His Best Accessories

Kairah: “I like his glasses.”

Trevor: “His shoes are cool.”

Things they love to do with Daddy

Kairah: “We laugh, and he plays games with me.”

Trevor: “We play basketball and go to the park!”

His Work-Life Balance

April: “Quality time is important, especially with him being gone to away games during basketball season. The kids miss him so much when he is gone, they’re always asking for him, so once he returns it’s all about them and their time.”

His Co-Parenting Commitment

April: “Trevor helps me out a great deal when it comes to parenting. He is involved with every aspect of each child. He rewards the kids for good behavior, and talks to them when they’ve done something wrong. We usually discuss things about the kids, and we figure out how to handle issues together.”

Why He’s the Best Daddy

Kairah: “Because he is funny, and because he loves me.”
