We love drinking outside—yes, even on the muggiest summer days in Washington. So where’s the best place to grab a cold one? That’s up to you to decide.

While the city has no shortage of great spots to sip in the sun, we picked 16 of the top patios, rooftops, and beer gardens for our Summer Drinking Showdown. The online polls will open each weekday at 9 am beginning Monday, July 13, when our first two lofty contenders—POV Lounge and the Rock & Roll Hotel—go roof deck-to-deck. The summertime madness will continue until a winner is chosen.

May the best outdoor bar win!
