DC nightlife proprietor Antonis Karagounis already owns downtown clubs Ultrabar, Soundcheck, and Barcode, and his portfolio is about to increase. On Saturday, Karagounis is opening L8, his fifth venue in Washington (he also founded Echostage in Northeast DC).
The club is pitched at a “young professional crowd with discerning taste,” Karagounis says in a press release, adding that its interior was designed with an eye for modernity. The 3,000-square foot space, which can fit as many as 220 patrons, includes two polished chrome bars, shimmering chandeliers, and black couches along the walls.
“L8 is for the upscale and sexy nightclubber in Washington looking for something new,” says co-owner Arman Amirshahi.
As for the music, L8’s programming will be diverse, with DJ set genres spanning from Top 40 hits and EDM to Latin songs. The club’s Saturday kickoff will feature a set from DJ Enferno, who has toured with Madonna, and usually spins electronic and dance music. Whatever the music is on any given night, though, it’ll probably be a fancy affair.
