9 Fun Food Events Around DC This Weekend

Addie’s Pop-Up: Restaurateur Jeff Black celebrates the 22 years since he opened his first restaurant, Addie’s on Thursday. In anticipation of the re-opening of Addie’s this summer at a new location, Black is hosting an Addie’s pop-up at Black Salt from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm. The seven course menu will feature items such as a chilled seafood tower, braised lamb, chocolate feuilletine, and more ($100 per person with wine pairings). To reserve your spot call 202-342-9101.

Shucking 101: Learn the proper way to shuck oysters with Ivy City Smokehouse‘s tutorial and tasting on Thursday at 6:30 pm. Guests will spend an hour learning how to shuck a dozen bivalves, eating, and discussing. The class is $50 per person and those interested can sign up online or in store. Future class dates are 5/4, 5/18, 6/1, 6/15  and 6/29.

Beefsteak Dinner: Charlie Palmer Steak DC hosts their second annual Beefsteak dinner on Friday with Charlie Palmer himself as the master of ceremonies. The carnivorous party features aged steaks, burgers, chops, and free-flowing beer, wine, and bourbon. Seating for the 7 pm communal meal begins at 6:30 p.m. and is $150 per person.

Earth Day Birthday Party: Glen’s Garden Market hosts an Earth Day/birthday bash for their flagship Dupont location on Saturday. The party celebrates the sustainably-minded market’s fourth year in the neighborhood with live music, a special brunch menu, tons of free samples, and fun collaborations such as a birthday beer specially brewed by Port City with local honey; a barrel-aged, cold-brew infused mead from Confluence and Charm City Meadworks; and special Lindera Farms vinegars made with cull from the Dupont Circle Farmer’s Market (among others).  The free party begins at noon and lasts until 4 p.m.

Crawfish for Cancer: Eat to your hearts content for a cause this Saturday at Crawfish for Cancer. Now in its fifth year, the annual DC crawfish boil raises money for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF). The party is hosted at Pinstripes in Georgetown from noon until 5 p.m., where guests can enjoy unlimited food including crawfish, corn, and potatoes alongside an open bar, live music, and games.  Tickets are $90 if purchased by April 22 or $100 the day of.

Kitchen Tour: Do something a little different this Saturday with the Junior League of Washington, which hosts their 6th Annual Kitchen Tour. The League invites guests to join them on a walking tour of H Street, Northeast where they stop into homes and learn from local chefs, floral designers, real estate experts and more.For $35 (general admission) or $55 (VIP) guests can enjoy tastings and demonstrations. Tickets can be purchased online and the event runs from noon until 4 p.m.

Oyster Fest: This Saturday Hank’s Oyster Bar in Dupont throws their 10th annual Oyster Fest featuring all- you-can-eat oysters served raw, barbecued, and fried. Old Bay fries, popcorn shrimp, and bottomless draft beers round out the feast. Tickets are $90 and can be purchased online. The fest begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m.

Leesburg BeerFest: The Village at Leesburg is home to the 2nd Annual Leesburg Beerfest on Saturday from 2 until 6 pm, benefiting the Spirit of Hope Children’s Foundation. The beery bash features live music, more than 75 brews including Heavy Seas and DC Brau, food trucks, and activities for both adults and kids. Tickets are $39 general admission, or $45 for VIP and must be bought in advance online.

Boil Season Begins: Chef David Guas hosts the first of many crawfish boils at Bayou Bakery on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. The $35 feast includes Louisiana crawfish with corn, potatoes, slaw, and mini muff-a-lotta sandwiches and cornbread (clean plates are welcome to grab seconds). The restaurant will also serve jumbo shrimp, tater tots, and $15 Abita pitchers and $5 drafts. Guests can RSVP on the Facebook page.
