2. Genesee Cream Ale

3 & 4. Shiner and Bud Select

Photo of grad school by Christine Jackson.

It’s a tie between Shiner and Bud Select (the Coke Zero of Budweiser). The first was the best $2 bottle at my favorite college bar/theater and the second is my drink of choice at hockey and baseball games. Mostly hockey games. – Christine Jackson

5. Miller High Life

Miller Hi-Life, baby. Crisp and refreshing for oyster roasts, boating, brunch—you can kick these back all day in blazing sunshine and not fall into that weird midday beer nap coma. Also: the champagne of beers! – Hayley Garrison Phillips

6. Medalla

Pretty much the national beer of Puerto Rico, Medalla Light is 4% ABV and tastes like the time my father, brother, best friend and I rode around the island of Vieques in a black jeep, pointing out wild horses before finding the perfect, secluded white-sand beach to enjoy our case of cheap, beer-flavored water. It’s definitely my go-to whenever I visit family in Aibonito. – Rosa Cartagena

7. National Bohemian (Natty Boh)

Brought Natty Boh and a nice bottle of wine to a dinner party recently. The Natty Boh was far more popular. – Jessica Sidman

8. Molson Canadian

Photo of an authentic experience by Andrew Beaujon.

Molson Canadian: Sometimes you just want a slightly alcoholic soda, and for me, that thirst quencher is this slightly sweet taste of the True North. You could drink 14 of them and still quote accurately from Guy Lafleur’s disco album. – Andrew Beaujon

9. Lone Star

As a native Texan, I’ve always been one to reach for the stars—Lone Star Beer, that is. Best served with a side of nostalgia, atop a tube floating down the Guadalupe River.  – Xander Peters

10. Red Stripe

Having graduated from my college days of drinking Natural (fondly referred to as “Natty”) Light, Red Stripe has become a summer favorite. It makes you feel like you’re on a Caribbean beach. Bonus points for the smaller glass bottle, which is convenient for sneaking into picnics. – Courtney Vinopal

11. Bud Light
