Students lay on the ground in shifts, 17 at a time, at a protest on the north side of the White House Monday. They were there to protest federal inaction on gun laws in the wake of a mass shooting at a Florida high school on February 14. Two local high school students, Whitney Bowen and Eleanor Nuechterlein, organized the protest through a group they named Teens for Gun Reform. Students and families across the country are planning a march in DC on March 24 called “March for Our Lives.”
