Cheap Eats 2018: Haikan

The sibling to Daikaya and Bantam King feels like the coolest of the ramen trio with its mod decor and al fresco communal table. Tangles of chewy noodles in slurp-worthy soup are the main affair, but the menu has fusion fun with Old Bay–dusted crab Rangoon and mapo tofu poutine. Keep an eye out for quirky specials and cocktails. (Yes, that’s shiitake mushroom syrup in your old fashioned.) Also good: Spicy shoyu ramen; vegetable ramen; Japanese “deviled egg.”
