• Host a spa or yoga party.
Get the girls together for a yoga party at Tranquil Space in Dupont Circle. In addition to a one-hour class, you’ll have time to sip tea and munch on cookies in the lounge. Relaxation more your bag? The Wright Touch Traveling Spa will set up shop at your house for a spa party. It’ll provide all the spa accoutrements, such as candles, music, beds, and bowls, as well as a team of licensed staff to accommodate any party size. The only things you’ll need to provide are food, drinks, and friends. Services include facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, hairstyling, and makeup. Prices range from $60 a person for manicures and pedicures to $400 a person for all the services. The traveling spa will come to locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

• Get makeovers.
A Mary Kay beauty consultant will come to your house for a few hours of sprucing with the girls. She’ll bring tons of skincare and makeup products to try and offer advice on what products make sense for different skin types. The best part: Mary Kay parties are free.

Parties last about two hours, says local Mary Kay consultant Linda Jean Boyd, but they can go longer with larger groups. Consultants vary on the number of ladies they’ll make over at a time; Boyd says she accommodates up to 15, but she’s heard of other consultants who’ve done 30 or more. “It’s best to check with your beauty consultant before you start inviting friends,” says Boyd.

• Pamper yourselves.
Get out of the house with a girls-only spa day. The spa at the Four Seasons has a special Valentine’s Day package called Kissed by the Sun that might be appropriate. Using ecofriendly and organic products, the grapefruit-themed treatment includes an exfoliating scrub, a Swedish or deep-tissue massage, and a moisturizing treatment. At the end of the 80-minute experience, you can enjoy a glass of fresh pink-grapefruit juice. The package costs $235.

Treatments at Chevy Chase’s Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon & Spa might be a good option if you want to pair a shopping trip with your spa day. Located near Mazza Gallerie and Chevy Chase Pavilion, the spa offers a range of services from facials and massages to waxing, hair, and makeup. You can purchase services à la carte or as bundle packages, such as the Ultimate Indulgence package, which includes a 50-minute hot-stone massage, a facial, a pedicure, a shampoo and blow dry, and makeup.

Ecofriendly fiends might like Nusta Spa (pronounced “NOO-stuh”) in downtown DC. Built with nontoxic, recycled materials, the space is sleek and modern, but the white treatment rooms can be color-customized to your taste depending on your mood, thanks to LED lighting. Other ecofriendly elements run throughout, from the product lines and packaging to the paper and ink at the front desk. The treatments are on the pricey side—$95 for a 50-minute facial and $50 for a 45-minute pedicure—but the service is top-notch, so it’s worth the splurge.

• Sip tea at the Willard.
Treat yourself to a midday indulgence at the Willard InterContinental. The hotel’s afternoon tea includes a selection of loose-leaf teas, fruit, scones, jams, pastries, and finger sandwiches, such as goat-cheese-and-beet with greens and chives. You’ll snack and sip in the hotel’s Peacock Alley, a long, richly decorated hallway great for people watching. Afternoon tea costs $37 per person, but for an extra $10 a head you can add a glass of Nicolas Feuillate Brut Champagne. Tea is served Thursday through Sunday from 2:30 to 5. On Fridays and Saturdays, a harpist provides music.

• Visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Take the girls to the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to female artists. With art from 28 countries, this museum houses more than 3,000 works by women from the 16th century to the present and includes a range of media such as painting, photography, sculpture, silver, and more. Guided tours are available but must be arranged in advance by calling 202-783-7996. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors over age 60; under age 19 free.

• Bust a move.
Dance the night away with two dance parties at the Black Cat on February 14. Mousetrap, a Brit-pop dance night, will happen upstairs on the Mainstage starting at 9:30. The downstairs Backstage will host a Valentine’s-themed show with the Ambitions and the Electricutions at 8, followed by a rock-and-roll dance party featuring DJs Glenn, Max, Sean, and Chad. Cover for Mousetrap is $10, for the Valentine’s show $8.
