The Alice in Wonderland-themed event features tea, Champagne, snacks, giveaways, and photo ops with Johnson. The lunchtime appearance runs from noon to 1.

The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage hosts the band Low Anthem. The folk/blues trio behind the album Oh My God, Charlie Darwin—who hail from Providence, Rhode Island—take the stage at 6.

As part of its ongoing Music and the Brain lecture series, the Library of Congress presents “The Positive Effects of Music Therapy on Health,” an evening with Concetta M. Tomaino, executive director of the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function in the library’s Whittall Pavilion. The lecture begins at 6:15.
Saturday, March 13
For another take on the power of music, artist Robin Rose offers her interpretation at Hemphill Fine Arts (1515 14th St., NW; 202-234-5601). The final day of Rose’s “Distortion, Delay & Sustain” exhibit displays mixed-media installations of musical instruments. 10 to 5.

Wander the National Gallery of Art while pianist Ewa Poblocka takes on work by Chopin in the museum’s Garden Café. The concert starts at 6:30.
