New Homes for Sale in the Area

During the real-estate boom, Leesburg was one of the region’s fastest-growing suburbs. Builders flooded the area, constructing thousands of new houses and condos up and down Route 7. Buyers were willing to take on longer commutes in exchange for lower prices and bigger homes. They also found a quaint downtown with shops and restaurants, easy access to parks and the outdoors, and a small-town feel that’s well suited for families.

While construction has slowed, several communities in and around Leesburg still have new homes on the market.

Brambleton (42395 Ryan Rd., Brambleton; 703-542-2925). Some 2,500 residents have moved into this master-planned community, which will have more than 8,000 homes when it’s finished in 10 to 15 years. A town center with a movie theater anchors the development. About 1,000 preconstruction homes are for sale now; prices start in the high $200,000s for condos, mid-$300,000s for townhouses, and low $500,000s for single-family homes.

Creighton Farms (22050 Creighton Farms Dr., Aldie; 703-957-4800). Built around a Jack Nicklaus–designed golf course, this gated community will eventually have 182 single-family homes on one-to-six-acre lots. A hundred fifty sites are still available; prices start at $1.5 million.

Greene Mill Preserve Townhomes (41157 Black Branch Pkwy., Leesburg; 703-542-8844). Single-family homes and townhouses are available for preconstruction sale at this planned community, which will include 224 homes by 2014. Prices start at $365,990 for townhouses, $454,990 for single-family homes.

The Hamlets at Red Cedar (21168 Laurel Springs Dr., Leesburg; 703-327-2340). Construction of these 350 single-family homes and townhouses began more than four years ago; about 60 preconstruction homes are left, ranging from $544,900 to $769,990. The 1,300-acre community has five parks.

Kincaid Forest (1 King St., Leesburg; 571-286-0060). This community will eventually have 38 townhouses as well as a swimming pool and tennis court. Nine preconstruction homes are on the market, priced around $360,000.

Moreland Estates (21395 Fairhunt Dr., Ashburn; 703-858-7776). This community of single-family homes is eight miles from downtown Leesburg. Of 80 planned homes, about 40 are still on the market. Prices range from $564,900 to $704,900.
