Where & When: The Week in Washington Nightlife

Baltimore beats, dancing fools, and some rather public intimacy

Monday, October 4
Let it all hang out at the Air Sex World Championship—it’s like air guitar but louder and more bendy. We’re not sure why anyone would do this or why another event listing categorized this as “all ages,” but call forth your inner voyeur or call up your current lover. At the Rock & Roll Hotel at 8. Tickets ($10) are available here.

Tuesday, October 5
Tonight, the music of Baltimore comes to Washington at DC9. James Nasty, Oh Snap!!, and Ratt Moze perform at Boom! A Night of Hip-Hop and Baltimore Club Music. 9 PM. Free until 10; after that, tickets are $5 and available at the door.

Wednesday, October 6
Who doesn’t love a man in tights? The manly men of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo perform at the Kennedy Center. Their humorous but technically acclaimed repertoire parodies traditional ballet by pairing it with slapstick comedy. 8 PM. Tickets ($65) are available here. The troupe performs tomorrow night, too.

Thursday, October 7
The DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival kicks off at Landmark’s E Street Cinema, featuring Au Revoir Taipei and a Q&A with the film editor afterward. Asia Nine is hosting a reception following the screening. The festival, which promotes the work of filmmakers of Asian descent and movies that focus on issues in the Asian-Pacific community, runs through October 16. 7:30 to 10. Tickets ($20) are available here. For a full schedule, click here.
