Where & When: What to Do Tonight

An inspiring speaker, an intimate country concert, and a magician with balls

Best-selling author Wes Moore is speaking at the Lisner Auditorium from 6:30 to 8. His book, The Other Wes Moore: One Name Two Fates, tells the story of two boys, one who became a Rhodes Scholar and community leader, while the other is spending his life in prison for murder. Moore is an outspoken advocate for education and public service. Free; E-mail Lindsay_bowles@facing.org to RSVP or visit facinghistory.org/communityconversations.

Have a magical Monday at the National Theatre, which is hosting free magic shows. This week, Brian Curry, who specializes in witty wordplay and illusions involving bowling balls and pickles, is performing. The shows are at 6:30 and 7, and tickets are distributed 30 minutes before.

Wilco’s John Stirratt and Pat Sansone play as the Autumn Defense tonight at the Iota Club & Café. Their easygoing country-folk style is a relaxing way to start the week. 8 PM. Buy tickets ($15) at the door; it’s first come, first serve.
