The owners will also give $200 to whomever creates the best pizza box design.

Bro-staurant buddies Steve Salis and Michael Lastoria opened H &pizza in July 2012, introducing the H Street Corridor to their ovate thin-crust pies served from lunchtime into the wee hours.

On Wednesday, a second location—at 1250 U Street, Northwest—comes to life. As on H Street, customers will be served assembly line style, customizing their pies or ordering one of the house combinations such as the Kiss & Fire, with spicy tomato sauce, a provolone blend, ricotta, meatballs, mushrooms, and strawberry balsamic. They can opt for three types of crust and a bevy of toppings plus “finishes & oils”: fig marsala, oregano oil, crumbles of goat cheese.

To mark the occasion, Salis and Lastoria will grant $200 to the customer who creates the best pizza box design—pick up blank boxes at either location—and will print said design on 5,000 containers. Also, the U Street All Stars will perform live jazz in the new space on Friday from 6 to 8 and Saturday from 9 to 11.

Next up: a location at Monroe Street Market at 701 Monroe Street, Northeast, in Brookland.
