IN VIRGINIA: Former Bush Secretary of Labor nominee Linda Chavez and her husband, Christopher Gersten, sold a three-bedroom Colonial townhouse on Beacon Heights Drive in Reston for its list price of $1,250,000. The five-level house has an elevator, a gourmet kitchen, and views of Lake Audubon. In 2001, after President Bush nominated her to head the Labor Department, Chavez withdrew her nomination amid charges that she hired an illegal immigrant as a housekeeper. She now heads the Center for Equal Opportunity, a nonprofit in Sterling.

Former DC United star Marco Etcheverry sold a six-bedroom Colonial on Gibson Oaks Drive in Herndon for the list price of $820,000. After nine years with United, Etcheverry retired in 2003.

Lawyer George Crozer bought a five-bedroom Colonial on Belle Haven Road in Alexandria for $2,037,500. The house listed for $2,089,000 and has a roof deck. Crozer, a corporate-finance attorney, is a partner in the Washington office of White & Case.

IN DC: Association executive Roger W. Bowen and his wife, Barbara, bought a Federal-style home on S Street near Dupont Circle for $1 million. The restored townhouse was built in 1890 and has a home theater. Bowen runs the American Association of University Professors in DC.

IN MARYLAND: Andrew Wechsler sold a 5,300-square-foot house on Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda for $4 million to technology entrepreneur Steve Chapin. The house has a 2,100-square-foot club room and two kitchens. Wechsler is managing director at the DC office of the Law and Economic Consulting Group. Chapin has started several technology companies, including Lifeminders, an electronic reminder service that he sold in 2001.

Lawyer Martin F. Cunniff and Karen W. Chen bought a two-story home on McDonald Chapel Drive in Gaithersburg for $1,213,000. Cunniff is a partner at DC's Howrey Simon Arnold & White law firm.
