Round Two: Bars Where You Can Watch the Second Presidential Debate

We’re counting down the days until the election, and two presidential debates remain. In a town-hall format, moderator Tom Brokaw will ask senators John McCain and Barack Obama questions—submitted by audience members and over the Internet—at Belmont Unive

Make a campaign contribution and kick the night off early with a happy hour at Buffalo Billiards. Enjoy complimentary snacks and a cash bar at 7. RSVP required.

Candidate-inspired cocktails have been a hit during B. Smith’s debate-watching parties. Throw some back and enter a raffle for a dinner for two at the restaurant.

Join George Washington University college Republicans and Democrats in the Marvin Center on campus to watch the debate from 8 to 11.

Hawk ’n’ Dove will surely be packed, so arrive early and enjoy $1.95 domestic bottles, $2 rail drinks, and 12 wings for $1.

Head to Stetson’s for the Cocktails for Change happy hour, fundraiser, and debate-watching party at 6. A $20 campaign donation is suggested. Obama supporters can donate here.

Busboys and Poets canceled its usual open-mike night to host a viewing party for the debate. Drink and food specials will be available.

Join the Latinas and Latinos for McCain at City Club at 7 for a cash bar and debate-watching party. RSVP here.

Enjoy debate-themed food and drinks at the 1331 Bar in the JW Marriott hotel. These treats will be available throughout the presidential campaign.

DC for Obama is sponsoring a debate-watching party at Mezza Luna. Several televisions—including a 100-inch flat-screen—will broadcast it. You must RSVP for this event here.

Will a word be as popular as “maverick” was in the last debate? At Ventnor Sports Cafe, pick a word you think a candidate will say repeatedly and be rewarded with $1 shots when he says it.

Arrive early at 18th Amendment to take advantage of its happy-hour specials in time for the debate. Pizzas are half price all night.

American Jewish World Service-Avodah Partnership sponsors this week’s party at the Red Derby starting at 7. Show how well you’ve been paying attention by playing election trivia.

Left Bank Bistro Lounge will again be home to the Progressive Happy Hour on Tuesday for a dance/debate party.

The Alexandria City Republicans will meet in the lobby of the Hilton Mark Center to rally for McCain.

Treat yourself to 25-cent wings at Capitol Lounge while watching McCain and Obama on 30 TVs.

Timberlake’s American Bar & Grill will show the debate on three flat-screen TVs. Arrive early to ensure a seat and get $1 off drinks during happy hour.

Join the debate-watching crowd at 1409 Playbill Cafe. Seventy-eight people attended the first debate, and the bar wants to get that number to 100. Don’t forget to RSVP.

Cafe 1612 on U Street will have a debate party from 8:30 to 11. There will be free appetizers and drink specials.  

Latinos for Obama is having a fundraiser and debate-watching party at Ulah Bistro on U Street starting at 8. The collected money will go toward grassroots campaigning in Latino communities.

Drinking Liberally and DC for Democracy will be gathering to watch the debate at 17th Street Cafe at about 7:30.

Young Lawyers for Obama, Generation Obama, Foreign Policy Professionals for Obama, and GW Law for Obama will all be meeting up at McFaddens to watch the debate tonight from 8-11. $15 is the suggested donation, $10 for students. Please RSVP to Jim McBride at 703-867-5070, or genobamadc@gmail.com.

Ward 6 Democrats will be watching the debate in the upstairs room at Finn MacCools, at 8:30. Free, no RSVP required.

Ward 7 and 8 Democrats will gather at Georgina's Restaurant & Bar on Tuesday night from 7-10. $10 per person; includes a dinner buffet.
