Monday, September 14: The Cat’s Meow
The beloved music venue Black Cat celebrates its 16th anniversary with backstage performances by bands Dead Meadow and the Shirks. Also, a slate of DJs will play sets in the bar’s Red Room area. The party starts at 9; tickets ($10) can be purchased here.
Tuesday, September 15: Oktoberfest
Penn Quarter’s Gordon Biersch hosts an Oktoberfest party with live music, raffles, and—obviously—plenty of delicious seasonal beer. German-themed food will be available for those looking to load up in between mugs. The event—held in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training—is free, but donations are encouraged. 5 PM.
Wednesday, September 16: Barbecue Feast
Smoked baby-back ribs, cornbread, beef brisket, barbecue wings—the folks over at Art and Soul surely know how to get people’s attention. Those are just some of the dishes that are served at the Capitol Hill restaurant’s Patio Barbecue Feasts, held every Wednesday throughout the fall for $25 per person. There’s also buckets of seven-ounce beers for $14. 5:30 to 10:30.
Thursday, September 17: Soul Collective
Their summer pool parties have wrapped up for the season, but the folks of Brightest Young Things are still going strong. Tonight, they’re co-sponsoring a preview concert (with free booze) at the Kia Soul Collective Warehouse (3330 New York Ave., NE). The band Ponytail will perform, and DJ Dave Nada will emcee the party. To attend you must RSVP here. 7:30 PM.
