Celebrating the mayoral election, a taste of Wildfire, and Duke Ellington on U Street

Eagerly awaiting the results of today's Washington, DC primaries, which will determine the city's next Mayor? Got your snazzy "I Voted" sticker already? Vincent Gray and Adrian Fenty are holding dueling results parties tonight. Fenty's will be at his campaign's headquarters at 5929 Georgia Avenue NW at 8 PM, while Gray supporters will gather cross-town at the Washington Court Hotel, also at 8 PM. 

Try out four restaurants in a single night as Big Bowl, Community Canteen, Mon Ami Gabi and Wildfire team up to serve a four-course meal with wine pairings at Wildfire. Start with potstickers, spring rolls and peanut noodles, continue on to endive salad, dig into a tenderloin and end the night with tarte tatain. $60. For reservations, call 703-442-9110.

Got a yearning for jazz? The U Street Movie Series has the answer to your craving with a double-bill of Soul Power, which chronicles the  events that lead up to the Rumble in the Jungle—and one of the most significant musical gatherings in Africa in the 70's—and closer to home, Duke Ellington's Washington, a look at how the city made Ellington the musician that he was, and how Washington's music scene found its way to rebirth. Harrison Field at V Street NW between 13th & 14th Streets, gates open at 7 PM, screening begins at sundown, around 8:30 PM.
