El Cento D.F (1819 14th St., NW), a new restaurant from chefs Richard Sandoval and Kaz Okochi that opens May 5, has more than 200 varieties of tequila. There’s an opening reception tonight from 5 PM to 2 AM with appetizers and dancing on the rooftop patio. A cash bar will have margaritas and agave cocktails. $20 cover.
Logan Circle’s Policy restaurant is having a party from 5 PM to 1 AM with $3 Coronas, $5 margaritas and Negra Moldelos, and free soft tacos. Plus—a piñata!
Through Thursday, the downtown DC Nuevo Latino restaurant Ceiba is offering Mexican street food such as tacos al pastor, Mexican-style fish and chips, and enchiladas for $5, plus $5 house margaritas. On May 5, the party starts early at 2:30 (it starts at 3 on Wednesday).
La Sandía Mexican Kitchen & Bar in Tysons Corner is serving $3 Mexican beers and $4 glasses of Latin American wine during happy hour from 4 to 7.
Drink specials at 19th Bar include $15 Corona buckets and $12 sangría pitchers, plus $7 margs and $2 tacos all day.
Head to downtown Silver Spring for a street party from 5 to 8. Expect Latin American music, dancing, plus piñatas and eating contests. After 8, head to Austin Grill for more drinks and dancing until 2 AM.
California Tortilla (multiple area locations) is giving away coupons for free tacos on a future visit. Just say “Cinco de Mayo” when you stop by.
Guapos (multiple area locations) is having a week of specials. At DC’s Tenleytown location, there are buckets of beer for $11.95, deals on margaritas and chef’s specials, plus giveaways. Specials vary at each location, so call ahead.
Rosa Mexicano is adding a host of special dishes to its menu for Cinco de Mayo. Start with guacamole with jumbo lump crabmeat made tableside or lobster turnovers, and follow up with main dishes such as a Mexico City street salad or lamb-stuffed chiles. There’s also live music. For a classier take on the evening, go to Pulse’s Cinco de Mayo party at the Sofitel Hotel. There’ll be discounted French and Mexican cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; the proceeds go to the American Heart Association. Buy tickets ($25) here. 6 to 8:30.
