Monday, March 10

COMEDY: There is apparently a fairly well-known basketball tournament starting soon, but the only March Madness you need to care about is the March Madness of comedy. For the next couple of weeks, 48 comics will be telling their jokes and you’ll decide which ones move on. Tonight’s “game” is at Bethesda’s Fire Station 1 and will feature 16 comics, eight of whom will advance to the next round. Free. 8:30 PM.

Tuesday, March 11

STORYTELLING: We spend a lot of our time imitating others or following in their footsteps, but everyone has their own rebellious or adventurous streak for at least a while. Hear about it at SpeakeasyDC’s Unprecedented, a night filled with funny, awkward, courageous, and just plain interesting stories about going against the grain. Tickets ($16) are available online. 8 PM at Town Danceboutique.

Wednesday, March 12

MUSIC: Starr Hill Brewery will be at Gypsy Sally’s, releasing Grateful, its Grateful Dead-themed beer. To celebrate, Uncle Charlie, a Grateful Dead cover band, will play. Wear tie-dye. Tickets are $10 in advance or $14 at the door. 8 PM.

DRINK: The Artini feature night is at Ripple this week, where mixologist Caroline Blundell will stir up cocktails inspired by Edward Hopper’s “Ground Swell,” which looks nice and sunny. Free. 6:30 PM.

Thursday, March 13

PARTIES: The Environmental Film Festival kicks off with a huge launch party featuring an open bar, food from Chipotle, Baked & Wired, and Shake Shack, the deejays from Fatback, a silent auction, and more. The only thing you won’t get at the opening night is a screening of an actual movie; those start early next week. Tickets ($25) are available online. 7:30 PM.
