ART: Drop by the Hillyer Art Space tonight and practice your drawing skills with a live nude model. Easels, chairs, and “artistic ambiance” will be provided, but budding artists must bring their own drawing materials. 6 PM, $12.
BOOKS: Politics and Prose is teaming up with Busboys and Poets Brookland and hosting an event featuring author Nelson George. Plans for the evening include a short lecture by George on his book, The Lost Treasures of R&B, a Q&A, and book signing. 6:30 PM, free.
Tuesday, March 17
MUSIC: Cellist/composer Ben Sollee will perform at the Rock & Roll Hotel, where the Kentucky native will deliver a unique mashup of sounds: Appalachian mountain music meets blues and Bach. Plus, sneak a peek of his cello, which he nicknamed Kay. 8 PM, $15 to $17.
ART: Want to get rich off art? Check out this lecture at Artist’s Proof about investing and the bizarre economics of art by Samira Farmer of Doyle New York and Blair Wunderlich of Huntington T. Block. 7 PM, free.
Wednesday, March 18
MUSIC: Robin Schulz delivered what was perhaps the catchiest song of last summer: a remix of Lilly Wood & The Prick’s “Prayer in C.” Dance along to his tunes at 9:30 Club, where the 27-year-old’s performance includes an appearance from Le Youth. 9 PM, $20.
DRINK: Celebrate the wonder of hooch at the Mooshine & Craft Spirit Festival at Eastern Market. $45 gets you access to light bites, as well as tastings of various spirits. 6 PM.
