BOOKS:
Literary buffs won’t want to miss Readyset DC’s Book Swap at the Dunes. All you have to do is bring your pre-loved titles to trade for something new. The event is free, but participants must donate one book at the door. Local illustrator Elizabeth Graeber will make an appearance, and drinks will be available for purchase. All books will be donated to Books for Africa, a nonprofit that distributes books to children in Africa. 7:30 to 11:30 PM.

MUSIC: Avey Tare of Animal Collective is dropping by U Street Music Hall tonight. The Maryland native released his first solo album, Down There, last year. The album methodical approach to distortion and soundcraft, employed consistently without seeming redundant,” says NPR. Tare will be joined by Eric Copeland and Insect Factory. Tickets ($10) can be purchased through Ticketfly. 8 PM.

FILM: For one night only, E Street Cinema will screen Nick Waggoner’s ski movie Solitaire. The film captures one crew’s two-year journey across the the South American wilderness. Watch the trailer here. Tickets ($12 to $15) can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets. 8 PM.

THEATER: Get your afternoon culture fix with a free production at the Shakespeare Theatre. Today’s performance features a selection of short plays by Samuel Beckett. The performance is less than an hour long, so you’ll be back in time for that one o’clock meeting. Noon.
