Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

A rooftop pool party for socialites and fashion mavens, girls night out with Rosie O'Donnell, a free yoga lesson for runners, and more.

Monday, August 10: Greater Good
The men’s clothing store For the Greater Good (1781 Florida Ave., NW) sponsors Greater Good Mondays at the Donovan House rooftop pool. Held every Monday at 6, the event bills itself as gathering of the city’s “progressive tastemakers, socialites, fashion mavens, and creatives.” The party is emceed by Sam “the man” Burns of Eighteenth Street Lounge. To attend you must RSVP to victor.n@cmonwealth.com by 4.

Tuesday, August 11: Lulu-se Limbs
Count us as fans of Lululemon Athletica, makers of those sexy glute-enhancing yoga pants ($98). We don’t mind the free weekly yoga lessons, either. Tonight at 8, the store on P Street, Northwest, is offering a yoga class designed specifically for runners. Namaste.

Wednesday, August 12: Girls Night Out
Organized by and featuring Rosie O’Donnell and Cyndi Lauper, the 9:30 Club’s Girls Night Out is part concert, part standup show with a charitable purpose: Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Capital Area Food Bank. Also, $1 from every ticket sold is donated to the Tru Colors Fund, a GLBT non-profit. Tickets ($55) can be purchased here. 7 PM.

Thursday, August 13: Phillips After 5
This week’s after-hours event at the Phillips Collection will feature food from Fresh Farms as well as libations created by the DC Bartenders Guild. Expect peach sangria, artisanal cheeses, and—wait for it—gazpacho shooters with red-pepper swizzle sticks. Admission to the event, which combines gallery talks with live entertainment and food, is by donation, but beer and food tastings carry an extra charge.
